Gigabit Voucher Scheme 2017-10-26T11:27:54+00:00

THE BRISTOL NETWORK

Grow your business with the Gigabit Bristol Broadband Voucher scheme

As business and organisations move their data storage to the cloud, and the use of cloud-based apps continues to increase, the pressure on ancient connectivity is mounting. Thankfully, Bristol is one of six pilot areas trialling a gigabit voucher scheme, potentially lowering the cost of getting gigabit broadband for local businesses and organisations.

The Government has allocated £200 million to the Local Full Fibre Networks Programme and the Bristol City Council area is set to benefit from a new UK Government incentive to help small and medium sized businesses get gigabit broadband. The Gigabit Voucher Scheme has been designed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) of the UK Government and will provide local businesses with the opportunity to apply for a revolutionary gigabit broadband connection, potentially transforming their business operations, productivity and boosting growth.

With its own network of fibre underneath Bristol, Spectrum fibre is already close to many businesses in the city and these businesses and organisations can apply for a voucher worth between £500 to £3000 to pay towards the installation of full fibre technology. Registered charities and social enterprises could also apply for vouchers worth between £500 to £3000, to get connected. The result will be a gigabit-ready (1,000 Megabits per second) connection – businesses do not need to take the full gigabit service from the outset – with a minimum of 100Mbit/s.

The scheme is available for a limited period only and funding is on a fist come, first served basis for eligible businesses and organisations.

The result will be full-fibre technology capable of delivering broadband connectivity to your premises at or above 1Gbps upload or download at the time of delivery of the connection and a minimum of 100Mbit/s.
